Arriving to Ardara from
the north coming from Glencolmcille, one must pass this
beautiful Glengesh pass. This is one of the most
famous passes in the country. Although very
scenic, it tests the ability of Tour Bus drivers in
their navigation around these famous bends, locally
known as the 'S'

On Entering Ardara from Killybegs, one passes through
the area known as the Nick. The large building
in the distance is Gallagher's Bakery. This famous
family owned bakery distributes freshly baked bread
throughout the country and overseas. In the far-off
distance, Nairn and Rosbeg can be seen.

The area know as Laconnell was the oldest known historical
area of the Parish of Ardara. This area has maintained
the tradition of the day. In the distance one
can see the beach and the sand dunes of Maghera, famous
for its sea caves and gushing waterfall. Also
in the distance is Slieve a Thaigh. Across the
Penninsula is Loughros Point which leads to the the
village of Ardara.

Nairn beach is probably one of the safest beaches in
Ireland and has been awarded the Blue Flag. It
proves to be an ideal spot for sun, sea and sand.
Further on is the famous Nairn/Portnoo 18 Hole Golf
course. The little pier at Portnoo is used by
the sailing fraternity and is ideal for lovers of sailing.

The view is from the other side of the Penninsula in
the townland of Drimitton across from Laconnell.
This gives a great view of the very unspoilt area.
One can scan as far from Maghera, Slieve a Thaigh, across
the head of Loughros Point, to the sea in Rosbeg, Nairn,
Sandfield and the peaceful beach at Carn.
